Interview with a Pest Management Professional
What has been the most difficult type of service during this pandemic?
Mr. Pabon: Early on it was the restaurants in New York City, since so many closed and suspended their services. It seemed like rodents, flies, and roaches started to build up without continuous pest control services being provided on a regular schedule. Once the restaurants started opening again, the pests were out of control. As an exterminator, it was like starting all over again. Now that the pandemic appears to be under control in our area, our biggest hurdle is ensuring that proper safety protocols are followed by clients during our visits. We try to explain to them they need to keep good social distance and be prepared prior to our arrival. We are prepared with masks, gloves, face shields and other PPE so I feel like we are protected and our clients are protected as well.
